Question: What did you know about Journalism?

Answer:

Journalism is the practice of gathering, assessing, creating, and presenting news and information to the public. It plays a crucial role in a democratic society by providing citizens with the information they need to make informed decisions.

The primary goal of journalism is to inform the public about events, issues, and developments in society. This includes local, national, and international news. It serves as a watchdog, holding those in power accountable and ensuring transparency in society.

THE PROCESS IN JOURNALISM:

   - Research: Journalists start by researching their topic. This could involve reading documents, interviewing people, and gathering data.

   - Verification: It's crucial for journalists to verify their information to ensure accuracy. They cross-check facts from multiple sources.

   - Writing/Reporting: Once they have gathered and verified the information, journalists write or produce their stories. The way the story is presented varies depending on the medium (print, broadcast, online).

   - Editing: Editors review the work to ensure it meets journalistic standards, is clear, and is free of errors.

   - Publishing/Broadcasting: The final story is published in a newspaper, magazine, website, or broadcast on TV or radio.

THE IMPORTANCE OF JOURNALISM

- Informed Society: Journalism ensures that citizens are well-informed, which is essential for a functioning democracy.

- Public Discourse: It fosters public discussions on important issues, helping society to engage in meaningful dialogue.

- Accountability: By investigating and reporting on issues, journalism holds those in power accountable.
